Nuggets: The Movie

It had to happen! Following the success of other football movies like 'Goal!' and 'A Shot At Glory' Hollywood producers have turned their attention to the Nuggets and began filming at the beginning of March for a late summer release.

The plot will focus on the teams incredible run to the 2006 World Cup final. It begins in little Dumfries and sees several of our heroes move to the city of Glasgow where they meet their remaining team-mates, form a football team and go to play at Garscube every week. There they enter the Scottish Cup and work their way up amazingly to the World stage.

The Cast

Vince Vaughn will play Ross, the clubs top goalscorer and leading man who has a very boisterous nature off the pitch and into the pub.

Will Ferrell will play Super Gary,our brilliant and reliable goalkeeper who can also get very boisterous under an alcoholic influence and take drunkeness to another level.

Captain Nugget will be played by Rowan Atkinson.The producers wanted to catch the Captains inability to be taken seriously no matter how hard he tries.

Danny De Vito will play Greg,the Nuggets dodgy wee bookmaker. "I was attracted to this role because, like me, Greg is very small but has real attitude. He also looks sneaky and loves the old booze".

Spunky will be played by Will SmithThe producers wanted a gay, black player in the film and felt Spunky was the ideal man. He likes R'n'B and hip-hop, drinks gay drinks but stays cool and imposes his views on everyone but still remains their 'brother'. And is of course gay.

Vinnie Jones will play Steven,our angry and considerably tough defender who will bound forward whenever he feels like it.

John Goodman has been cast as Davieas he's a man who can turn into an animal once drunk. John also has crazy driving experience from The Flintstones, whcih will come in handy in 'Davie driving anywhere' scenes.

Ben Affleck has been cast as MattBen was chosen because he's used to not being the best but still a main part of any feature. There is nothing remarkable about him but he always comes in handy.

Kris Marshall will play Ewanthe Nuggets chilled out loopy guy. Kris is very excited that he gets to show anger in certain scenes too but has been told to get more ginger for the part!

Greenock Gary will unsurprisingly be played by Ned Parker.

And finally, the producers needed some eye-candy to appeal to the ladies. Hence they turned the sexy terrorist himself, Cammy, into...Owen Wilson

Cameo appearances have also been promised to Billy Bob Thorntonas American Scott, Jack Black as Gregs brother Keir, Bruce Willisas crazy Doonhamer Matthew Crossan, Jet Lias Davie's martial arts expert flatmate Fu and Chris Martinwho will sing songs and appear as drunken uni drop out Murray Tosh.

Another light moment sees Spunky forgetting to set the video for 24.

In a sinister plot detail, Steven is locked up between games, he's regarded as an extreme danger to humanity.

Ewan gets stoned a lot in the film with random buddies.

Matt is called away from his successful Uni career to play for the Nuggets.

The producers didn't think people would believe Cammy had been at Uni for so long so they have made a more believable back story that he comes from space.

Iain gets locked in a cupboard by Spunky.

Gary and Ross meet for the first time.

Greg goes undercover in one of the films comedic moments.

Spunky discovers an incredible secret about one of the Nuggets' opponents.

Steven gets sent off here,in one of the climatic scenes of the film.

Fu encounters an angry mob trying to get at Davie.

A recurring joke sees Ross continually playing the wrong sport.

After Greg's capture by the Hurricanes, Steven sets off to save the day.

Cammy gets his kit off.

In one of the more realistic moments, Davie wins Most Improved Nugget of the Year.

Ross and Cammy at Greg's funeral at the end of the film.
